How to scan documents with your phone

  1. Place the document flat in good light. Hold the camera directly above it, then choose Take a photo.
  2. Add more pages using the camera or gallery. Select a thumbnail to rotate, crop or improve its brightness and contrast.
  3. Move pages into the order you want. Choose a paper size and create your PDF.

Private by design

Photos stay in your browser. No account, server upload or paid scanning service is required. Keep the page open until you download your file; reloading clears your scan session.

Tips for a clearer scan

Use an even background, avoid shadows and glare, and keep all four corners visible. Manual crop trims rectangular margins; it does not straighten a photo taken at an angle. Black & white can improve printed documents, while color is often better for stamps and photographs.

Frequently asked questions

Does this create searchable text?

No. The PDF contains images of your pages. OCR and editable text are not included.

Why does the camera button open my gallery?

Camera capture depends on your phone and browser. Select Camera from the picker when offered, or take photos in your camera app and select them from the gallery.

Can I scan HEIC photos?

HEIC support depends on whether your browser can decode the image or converts it during camera capture. If a photo cannot open, export it as JPG or PNG and select it again.

What are the limits?

Up to 20 pages, 15 MB per photo and 60 MB of selected source files per session. Photos are reduced to a maximum 2,400 pixels on the longest side to keep mobile memory use manageable.
